This year we are using an idea developed by the Church Army as an activity to engage with the anticipation of Christmas throughout Advent.
Posada is an old Mexican tradition where young people dressed as Mary and Joseph travelled from house to house asking for a room for the night and telling people about the imminent arrival of Jesus in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
Modern day Posada uses nativity figures which stay in a different home each night during Advent, giving the hosts the chance to focus on what the season means through prayer or meditation, or singing carols and re-telling the story of Jesus’ birth with friends and family.
If you would like to join in with this, please sign the list on the church notice board or ask Helen or Angela. We hope the figures can be in a different house each night and that the whole church community will get involved.
